By no means a masterpiece, Elia Kazan's last film is slow and ragged. Nevertheless it's well worth watching, mainly because of Mr R. De Niro's brilliant portrayal of a charismatic film producer.

Classically Pinter, his screenplay is slow and you have to concentrate on the great dialogue, but once you accept this it becomes a half-decent watch.

One misguided movie. DeNiro did the best he could, and Theresa Russell stole her scenes, but I felt sorry for the actors. Weak script; mechanical direction.
