Or rather a tale of two cons. A doc that could have benefited from both a less worshipful title and portrayal, and likewise compromised by a facade of pandering even handedness dubiously tossing together Elvis with the equally fraudulent American Dream.

85% BS - It's a bait and switch. When you say "the king" with a picture of elvis and the film is a political commentary (not a documentary) it turns into another Hollywood ripoff

Elvis is clearly used as a metaphor by Jarecki. Undeniably progressive in his approach and his politics, the filmmaker still crafts a compelling portrait that reaches beyond simply ideology.
