I see it as a struggle between and within two outmoded systems of thought, aristocracy and Christianity, especially exposing the limits/dangers of a man positing/asserting (personal) freedom in an unfree society. If you want freedom, you must make/fight for a free world for all.

Los amantes del cine de Visconti me van a odiar pero lo siento:me aburriÃ³ soberanamente y ademÃ¡s oyendo al protagonista que te come el coco con su ideologÃa para mÃ,de zumbao total,sentÃa deseos tremendos de callarle de la peor manera posible Â¡que tÃo!..si hasta para hacerle guarreridas a la amante o a la esposa les da una charla interminable con la que cualquiera pierde la lÃbido para siempre...ja,ja.Ahora,eso sÃ, una ambientaciÃ³n maravillosa y los actores estÃ¡n bien.
