The story plays out in the sensuous textures and hypnotic rhythms as the rebellious youth Torres embodies eases into a serenity and acceptance that Montenegro brings so gently to her performance.

I got this for Fernanda Torres but was pleasantly surprised at how good the tale of a mother and daughter marooned in a sea of sand on a remote Brazilian shore was. The making of featurette is interesting to watch as well and see what they contended with to make it . . .

In both this movie and Me You Them, filmmaker, Andrucha Waddington's heroine initially finds herself in very bleak circumstances and must make decisions in order to have her life. The landscapes are stark, yet strikingly beautiful.
