0/10 for the painful ride. 0/10 for the lame attempt at trying to humanize police as a guise; so you can later pooo on them later with woke propaganda.

Jake's performance was a negative in this movie. Got the opportunity to check out an advance screening of this, which is a remake of a European movie by the same name. While most elements of this are the same as the original, it doesn't execute the story nearly as well. The main charactere, played by Jake Gyllenhaal is unlikable almost from the beginning, and the nearly constant dramatic moments of him being an abrasive tailhole wore thin very quickly. Even his voice grated on my nerves. Overly dramatic and over-acting. Almost every time he opened his mouth it was annoying. The original got it right. This one did not.

Even with its familiar visual and dramatic approach — the extent to which we are firmly, subjectively pushed into Joseph’s world and made to tumble around for a while amid his unpredictable behaviors — the movie packs an odd little punch.

The Guilty gets less and less plausible, not least of all in how neatly it ties together various plot elements. For its first 40 minutes or so, the movie shows how much Gyllenhaal and Fuqua can do with little. Confinement becomes a dramatic launching pad. Then melodrama kicks in, and what had been a gripping offbeat thriller becomes a morality tale (including a truly shameless plot twist).
