Ripley Under Ground (2007)

Now living a quiet, luxurious life at his French estate—funded by past crimes and his marriage to an heiress—Tom Ripley finds that an art scam he supports—selling forged paintings by a supposedly living artist named Derwatt—beginning to collapse. An inquisitive American collector suspects his Derwatt painting is fake and demands answers. Does not have the charm of the first movie. But there's one twist at the end which I looove :) Mr Ripley isn't the Ripley of this movie :)

I have seen the previous two ripley movies and this one fits in well. I'd recommend this film, but don't rush out to see it. Let it come to you.

Better than I thought but let down by some poor acting which doesn't quite capture the darkness of the novels.

Another great addition to the Ripley films I'm really surprised this never got a UK release as not only has it got a well established cast list but it's also a great little thriller/black comedy. Out of the three recent film versions of Ripley novels (Talented, Game and Underground) this takes itself the least seriously and takes quite a lot of liberties with the original novel but I think it still works well and Pepper is a very engaging Ripley. Forget about the timeline and watch this after Talented and before Game and you have a great trilogy. Worth seeking out.
