The film is messy and gets tangled up in its protagonist’s folly, but in the process, Zac Efron delivers a heartfelt and killer performance.

(Mauro Lanari) Flavorless cocktail dramedy, Peter Farrelly makes his Forrest Gump take a journey neither funny nor cathartic. Remaining distant even from "The Big Wednesday" [Milius 1983] or "Good Morning, Vietnam" [Levinson 1987], it is insignificant and has no well-founded reason to exist.
