The Frankenstein Theory (2013)

When he is suspended from his university job for his outlandish ideas, Professor John Venkenheim leads a documentary film crew to the rim of the Arctic Circle in a desperate effort to vindicate his academic reputation. His theory: Mary Shelley's ghastly story, "Frankenstein," is, in fact, a work of non-fiction disguised as fantasy. In the vast, frozen wilderness, Venkenheim and his team search for the legendary monster, a creature mired in mystery and drenched in blood. What they find is an unspeakable truth more terrifying than any fiction...a nightmare from which there is no waking.

pretty good, but somewhat predictable. would have rated higher if the monster had more than a caveman mentality,,

The Frankenstein Theory does't come to close to delivering it's potential.

A great premise, delivered as found footage, with a good script, decent acting, wonderful cinematography and classic movie violence. Most happens off screen instead of front and center gore where the viewer is left to fill in the blanks, but it doesn't feel like a cheat and it actually adds to heightened sense of mystery. Not a typical monster movie, not a typical payoff, but worth the thought required to really get into it.

A decent premise...sort of. But really slow with a couple of shock gags thrown in that are completely unrelated. Then you have a scene with Karl like in Jaws with the old man talking about the USS Indianapolis. And JUST like in Jaws you don't see the monster until almost the end of the movie...but unlike Jaws....it's really not all that impressive.

Rather dull film based on a theory that Frankenstein is alive and well.
