I've waited 9 years to watch this film, and I'm so glad I did. The film really heartfelt and moving, but also a witty comedy, although getting a bit dated almost a decade on. Helena Bonham Carter gives a beautiful and really believable performance, even if her voice was a combination of Frank Spencer and Borat. Branagh also gives a fine performance. Highly recommended, but it was never released in the United Kindom (aside from a cinema release). Hopefully that'll change now.

Kenneth Branagh and Helena Bonham Carter generate enough good will to keep aloft a charming bit of whimsy that probably would crash and burn with lesser talents at the controls.

Sad story I caught on TV about the love and friendship which develops between a kind of loser and a woman dying of Lou Gehrigs disease. Fabulous performances by Carter and Branagh...without them the film would have probably been bad.

Carter's bravura performance is the reason to see The Theory of Flight, but it's a shame that nothing else in the film matches the obvious care she put into her role.
