The Four Times (2010)

An old shepherd lives his last days in a quiet medieval village perched high on the hills of Calabria, at the southernmost tip of Italy. He herds goats under skies that most villagers have deserted long ago. He is sick, and believes to find his medicine in the dust he collects on the church floor, which he drinks in his water every day.

An Italian film with no subtitles (no one says anything) about a town in Southern Italy which revolves around a heard of Goats. Quattro Volte (Four times) is in four parts and is about life, of the goat herder, a goat, a tree it shelters under and then what happens to the tree. Apparently, it's all ver profound and buddhist like. I just thought some of the scenery was nice and some of the people were a bit crazy. And the goats......

93% of critics liked it. Way too arty (?!) for me.....90mins watching goats. No dialogue. Challenging!

An artistic and mesmerising movie. Slow paced and dialogue free which pulls you in and enchants you. A chilled out movie to watch. If you are expecting entertainment and action then go elsewhere. This is more poetic and arty.

One of the most beautiful films I saw at Telluride last year. Stunningly constructed. A true piece of cinematic art, not to mention, the best performance by a dog and a herd of goats in years.

A beautiful movie that's designed to make you think about the world around you and your place in it. Slow, precise, and superbly filmed.
