The Fortune Cookie (1966)

TV cameraman Harry Hinkle is injured while filming a football game. Seeing big dollar signs, his unscrupulous ambulance-chasing lawyer brother-in-law Willie Gingrich enters the picture, and convinces Harry to overstate his injuries and claim $1 million in pain and suffering. Harry's similarly-minded ex-wife suddenly reappears in an attempt to rekindle their relationship.

Good, but probably Wilder's most overrated film.

Not one of Wilder's best but overall a good film. Matthau shines in it (and deservedly won the Oscar) and will probably go down as one of the most underappreciated actors of the 20th century. Walter Matthau can make you hang on every line just by the sheer brilliance of his annunciation of the english language. Jack Lemmon was no slouch in this movie either (with the exception of him making a poor attempt at playing the role of a CBS cameraman), but this was clearly Matthau's film.

Siento decir que esperaba mas de esta comedia. El cocktail Lemmon-Matthau-Wilder me invitaban a una sesion memorable de cine. La peli es buena, con un guion original, pero en que todo me parece demasiado predecible. Eso si, inmenso Walter Matthau y el glorioso blanco y negro de los aÃ±os 60.

Billy Wilder and jack lemmon never disappoint me. A relaxing light hearted comedy.
