A good movie about poor people that is not hazed over with sentimentalism, but is still funny and compassionate.

The Florida Project is both bleak and inspiring as it does its best to reveal the reality inherent in living in dire poverty. It plunges the viewer into its world and never lets up on showing the highs and the lows with brutal clarity.

Best movie of the year for me so far. What was shocking to me is that approximately 30 people left the SAG Actors screening at the DGA. I've been thinking about it all night and my only guess is that a lot of people don't like seeing the reality of society. One of the security members that works the screening said he hadn't seen an exodus like that since Moonlight. I found it to be a beautiful movie. I absolutely loved the ending! Bravo to the entire cast and crew!

A bleak story viewed from the perspective of innocent and imaginative children. Sean Baker proves a directorial talent providing colourful, beautiful imagery and contrasting it with the harsh reality of the film. this films key cast is too extraordinary notably Dafoe who delivers a career-best performance as the films reluctant father-figure. A film to be revered in the years to come.
