different perspective puts a new spin on this story as it is almost all told from the child

Crisp cinematography, fine acting and a nuanced script all jell to form a thought-provoking thriller.

Finely crafted script with a developmentally "just-right" child. What a respite from the smartypants, wisenheimers and clevertons Hollywood likes to imagine.

I stumbled apon this wonderful Criterion purely on luck, and glad i did! The Fallen Idol has that Alfred Hitchcock atmosphere; Dark lighting, with it's built up suspense, and unique camera angles. So simalar 1 could be mistaken with who really directed the film. During the 40's it was unusual to have a female director, Carol Reed was 1 of the first to work side-by-side among her male competitors. Although Fallen Idol went straight to Tv it was a huge step up for wemon in Cinema.
