The Egg and I (1947)

World War II veteran Bob MacDonald surprises his new wife, Betty, by quitting his city job and moving them to a dilapidated farm in the country. While Betty gamely struggles with managing the crumbling house and holding off nosy neighbors and a recalcitrant pig, Bob makes plans for crops and livestock. The couple's bliss is shaken by a visit from a beautiful farm owner, who seems to want more from Bob than just managing her property.

My all time favorite Movie, I watch this movie several times per year. A true classical family movie. They don't make them like this anymore, I would vote 10 stars for this movie if I could.

Cute movie. Funny and sweet. Love Claudette Colbert. She was good in comical roles as well as drama.

Strange, but sweet story with Colbert & MacMurray. 1st of Ma & Pa Kettle films. With a very young Richard Long as the eldest Kettle boy. I did enjoy seeing Colbert working with the animal actors tho, she genuinely must of loved animals.

A great movie, based on the book by one of my all-time favorite authors, Betty MacDonald. My first-graders will remember her as the author of the Mrs. PiggleWiggle books.
