The Devil's Brigade (1968)

At the onset of World War II, American Lt. Col. Robert Frederick is put in charge of a unit called the 1st Special Service Force, composed of elite Canadian commandos and undisciplined American soldiers. With Maj. Alan Crown leading the Canadians and Maj. Cliff Bricker the acting head of the American contingent, there is initial tension -- but the team comes together when given a daunting mission that few would dare to attempt.

Really good War movie...a little sad. The synopsis is totally wrong...the base was not abandoned in REAL life.

A good old fashioned entertaining war movie. You will recognize alot of the actors in their younger days. This unit actually existed in WWII but there are historical mistakes.

I actually really enjoyed this film. Not being especially versed in WW2 military history I could enjoy the film for what it was, Hollywood. Very rarely is anything even close to accurate. It was great to see Vince Edwards in one of his few major post Ben Casey roles, and I wonder why the parts for him disappeared. I don't think I have ever seen Cliff Robertson any better, he was absolutley amazing. The first quarter bothered me, I couldn't get a real feel for the other men. There's no real emphasis on them as individuals, and I was still attaching names to faces after 3/4 of the film. One of my new favorites, and a must see.

Based on a true story, thank you all, especially to those who took part and sacrificed in 1SSF. The pioneers who took the 1st step towards today's modern special forces. TY so much. From vet to another.

Way too overlong and the Allies do more infighting than Kraut killing. A who's who of A-list actors and recognizable character actors make up for lots of downtime.
