The Devil's Brigade (1968)

At the onset of World War II, American Lt. Col. Robert Frederick is put in charge of a unit called the 1st Special Service Force, composed of elite Canadian commandos and undisciplined American soldiers. With Maj. Alan Crown leading the Canadians and Maj. Cliff Bricker the acting head of the American contingent, there is initial tension -- but the team comes together when given a daunting mission that few would dare to attempt.

Only the stuntmen excel in this star-studded but inane war film filled with tiresome cliches.

A good old fashioned entertaining war movie. You will recognize alot of the actors in their younger days. This unit actually existed in WWII but there are historical mistakes.

This was a great war flick as well as, surprisingly, a really good movie. My wife actually sat down and watched it with me and enjoyed it (she usually doesn't). The relationship between the crack troops of Canada with the AWOLs, deserters and fighters of the American army was just classic script writing. The plot was pretty historically accurate concerning the 1st Special Forces Brigade but on top of that it was really entertaining. Great watch for any war movie buff.
