The Carmilla Movie (2017)

It has been five years since Laura and Carmilla vanquished the apocalypse and Carmilla became a bonafide mortal human. They have settled in to a cozy apartment in downtown Toronto, Laura continues to hone her journalism skills while Carmilla adjusts to a non-vampire lifestyle. Their domestic bliss is suddenly ruptured when Carmilla begins to show signs of "re-vamping" – from a fondness for bloody treats to accidental biting – while Laura has started having bizarre, ghostly dreams. The couple must now enlist their old friends from Silas University to uncover the unknown supernatural threat and save humanity – including Carmilla's.

Bastante superficial, la pelicula pierde la esencia de la serie no se toma el tiempo con los personajes secundarios lo mejor fue la villana Elle... Ojala venga la 2da parte.

If you loved the series, you'll love the movie. If you didn't watch the series, you'll still love the movie. Was genuinely happy to see this universe once again and the actors didn't disappoint. Solid performance by everyone!

As someone who wants queer narratives to feature happy romantic relationships and be charming and have serious characterizations with meaningfully substantive development and plots, I can't help but find it disappointing.

A+ for queer representation and defying the "bury your gays" trope that is so prevalent in film and TV. A great transition from web series to film.
