Well cast, good adaption of Anne Tyler's fine novel.

Lovably quirky romantic film. The novel (a Pulitzer Prize nominated work by Anne Tyler) is untouched except for a detail or two. Both Geena Davis and William Hurt embody their literary characters with zealousness. Lawrence Kasdan demonstrates once again that he knows about making character driven movies.

Hurt & Davis were good and the story and characters were interesting & original but I cannot fathom how this film backed its way into a Best Picture nomination. Good but not great.

1988 hmm, has it really been that long since I saw this movie. It's always stuck in my mind as a winner. Hurt was good, Davis was great. These folk live our lives on the big screen. It's not simple. It has it's up's and down's. But we can't get off until the ride is over -so live it! I've been looking to own this flick for a long time it seems.
