The Boy with Green Hair (1948)

Peter, an orphaned boy, is adopted by Gramp Frye after his parents are killed in Europe while doing war relief work. The boy feels safe with his new caretaker, but when he is taunted for being an orphan, he gets demoralized. The next day Peter wakes up with green hair. Embarrassed and further ridiculed, Peter seeks solace in a nearby forest. To his surprise, he finds other orphans in the woods, who encourage him to spread news of the injustices of war.

I saw this film on a Netflix Stream and I must say right off the bat that it is the worst video Quality film I have ever watched, though I don't think that is of any fault of Netflix its just what's available. I was going to turn this one off after the first 10 minutes but then I was captured by the story line. A 1948 movie all about tolerance, about someone being different and when they are how bad people can treat them from kids to adults, how fast gossip can spread and what it can affect someone. Many Morals to the story in this one. Just wish video quality was a little better. 3 Stars

This was the 1st film I remember that had a social impact on me. Racism exposed as a young boy wakes up w/green hair & is discriminated against

Very memorable movie, but the message is lost in the silliness.

Very cute. Before its time, but good no matter. Plus, you get to see a very young Dean Stockwell.
