Good pace, good story. Very dramatic. DDL makes you care about his characters

Not one of the best films about the troubles in Northern Ireland, but a good effort all the same. Director Jim Sheridan sits on the fence in regards to the film's stance on the IRA, instead looking at some of the consequences such conflict can have on normal people. Daniel Day Lewis is excellent as the titular boxer, attempting to resume his life after 14 years imprisonment for terrorist activities.

One of my favorites. When I finally heard Jim Sheridan's director's notes this year, that was cemented. He is a dear man, with an incredible sense of humor. That shines through, though this film is dark and anxious. His focus on humanity in the midst of the recent Irish troubles is classic storytelling at its best. The actors are all superb.

A very good movie. An excellent performance by Daniel Day Lewis. This movie does a good job portraying things which would take place in Ireland.

Excellent. When does Daniel Day Lewis not turn in a fantastic performance? Ultimately both the acting and compelling story drive this movie home with rousing success.
