wow what a movie......i have just seen this movie 4 the 1st time n think that this is a great movie 2 watch......its got a good cast of actors/actressess thorughout this movie.....i think that alan napier, hal baylor, hans conried, john wayne, john hubbard, james arness, nancy olson, red mcqueen, veda ann borg play good roels/parts throughout this movie.....i think that alan napier/john wayne.hans conried were great thorughout this movie......i think that the director of this drama/classics/spy movie had done a good job of directing this movie because you never know what 2 expect thorughout this movie.....i think that this is a brilliant spy movie 2 watch its got a great cast throughout this movie n its enjoyable movie 2 watch

John Wayne, as an agent for the House UnAmerican Activities Committee, fights a Commie cell headed by Alan Napier (Alfred of TV's "Batman") and finds love in Hawaii in 1952. Worth watching just to learn that Jame Arness dwarfed John Wayne and for Madam Soo Yong as a penitent ex-Communist nurse serving in a leper colony in order "atone for my crimes against humanity." Worse propaganda-laden drivel than it sounds, actually.

Seeks to glorify the loathsome Joe McCarthy and his venal lot. Wayne was a well known ultra conservative so his presence here is no surprise but that this thing exists at all is a shame.

Interesting dinosaur showcases Wayne as a heroic HUAC investigator, tracking down Commie agents in Hawaii. Dubious politics aside, the film wants have it both ways by trying to be a comedy-romance as Wayne falls in love (and immediately marries!) plucky Nancy Olson, and a straight-up two-fisted actioner as he avenges the death of partner James Arness. Unintentional laughs abound as Duke hypes up the Red Menace. Fascinating time capsule of a paranoid era.

The name of Wayne's special agent for the HUAAC had the same initials as those of Senator Joseph McCarthy, which was not a coincidence, and Wayne himself believed that his popular propagandistic film helped McCarthy's reelection campaign.
