The Beguiled is not only one of Sofia Coppola's best films to date, but it's also one of the strangest, but most mind-blowing, seductive, intriguing, and mesmerizing films I've seen this year so far, and it's one of the best movies I've seen this summer and it's also one of the year's best films.

For those like me, deeply imprinted by Siegel's version, Coppola's reimagining is artful, clever, and more than a little beguiling.

A more suitable title for this movie might be 'Southern Belles All Hot and Bothered' but whatever you call it, its pretty damn fun. Gorgeously shot and with strong performances all around this is Sofia Coppola's best film since 'Marie Antoinette'. I wanna be best friends with the little girl who suggests they feed Colin Farrell the mushrooms.

Excellent movie. The acting, direction, and costuming were astounding. You have to allow yourself to become absorbed in the mood to appreciate it and not expect to be dazzled every second like most movies for the attention deficit. Both of us loved it.

Coppola has made a swift, gorgeous chamber thriller, an efficient and refreshingly straightforward film that crackles with wicked humor.
