To be corny, which the film is decidedly not, it's about life: the brevity of it, the risks we do or don't take, who in the end we choose to share it with. And for all the pettiness, absurdity, and outright threats of violence, it's pretty feckin' wonderful.

When Colum begins ignoring his best friend it sets off an unexpected chain of events as his efforts for isolation become more dire . It's smart,optimistic and heartbreaking. My no.

The result is McDonagh’s most fully realized work since his breakthrough play, “The Beauty Queen of Leenane,” a generation ago. “Banshees” has its limitations; it’s pretty glib, like everything McDonagh writes, in its mashup of blackhearted laughs and occasional sincerity. He’s akin to the Coen brothers in that regard. He’s also a formidable craftsman and his best lines are pearls.

Martin McDonagh garantiu um lugar de honra na minha lista quando dirigiu e escreveu o excelente "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri". Em "The Banshees of Inisherin" o Martin de finais em aberto está de volta, com mais perguntas do que respostas dessa vez. Com um quarteto de atores impecáveis o apoiando, o filme passeia por vários significados, como os vários exemplos de solidão representados em seus personagens, e prende a nossa atenção do começo até a sua metade. Foi notório para mim onde acontece a emenda do filme. Após expor todas as cartas na mesa, ao invés de caminhar para a construção de uma conclusão, ele parece apenas correr atrás do próprio rabo. Felizmente, ainda assim você pode tirar boas lições dele.
