A really well shot, beautiful, chilling ghost story. Perfect for the winter months. A few twists and turns along the way make for a creepy ride. Brilliant fun.

If you're looking for cat scares, you'll be disappointed. If you're looking for a film with atmosphere, impending horror, excellent plot twists, and British pacing, you're in luck.

If you're looking for new horror with a classic twist then this film will hit the mark. There's all the creepiness factor, the ominous mood provided by hauntings ... A beautiful set. Mystery. Probably not a perfect film but I was enthralled and entertained for the full time. This is Downton Abbey meets The Woman in Black but without the oppressive landscape. The set is like an Edward Gorey illustration brought to life. For pure gothic aesthetics this is a wonderful film and a charming story.

A great piece of story telling. Rebecca Hall plays her part convincingly. At the start of the story she portrays a strong intelligent woman with quite valid reasons for finding and debunking ghostly situations. As the story progresses you are drawn into all of the characters lives and their underlying psychological issues based on their lives in and around the Orphanage. The atmosphere and ambiance of the film is superb. With a few twists along the way. I wouldn't say it was a scary film but there is an air of tension and pacing is perfect. A very enjoyable film..
