An absoulte triumph for Duvall. A movie that creeps into mind months later - haunting and thought provoking. I'm a Southerner, and I loved the portrayal of the rural Deep South. He got everything right with this one.

Robert Duvall plays a great role as a down & out preacher doing his own soul searching and goes back to his small time roots. Reminds me of some of our real life TV preachers who have fallen from grace and have had to re-examine themselves and go back to their beginning.

Shows what most judgemental Christians don't want to admit. We are all sinners who can only strive to do right. Awesome movie!
