Charles Addams' kooky characters from the classic comic strip and television series return to life in their own feature film, THE ADDAMS FAMILY, from 1991. THE ADDAMS FAMILY is a macabre masterpiece of comic horror, and one of the finest of its breed. The refined humor is both witty and intelligent, but equally matched with entertaining sight gags and physical comedy. While no one could ever truly replace John Astin, Carolyn Jones, and the rest of the original stars, the casting is simply inspired. Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston are worthy successors as Gomez and Morticia Addams, losing themselves in the morbid characters. A young Christina Ricci steals the show in her wicked performance as Wednesday Addams. If any one thing succeeds over the acting and writing in THE ADDAMS FAMILY, it is the incredible production design that brings the Addams household to life and gives it a playful character of its own. THE ADDAMS FAMILY is nothing short of a modern classic that lives up to (and often succeeds over) the original series.

terrific movie adaption of the classic Addams Family tv series. Raul Julia (RIP) does a great job as Gomez and Anjelica Huston is wickedly gorgeous as Morticia. If anyone wants to know how to make a great movie based off of a tv series use this movie as a reference

I love this movie cause it for one, has classic characters, memoriable lines and great actors! It's to bad that Raul died other wise I could deffinatly see them making one now a days with the kids in college or what ever they would be doing now! Greatest movie of it's time!!!

For anyone who loves everything Addams Family, like me, this is one of those touchstone films for you which you will always love. This movie is funny, quirky and so quintessentially Addams family that it's impossible for fans not to love it. Yeah, it's got a flimsy plot and kind of shallow villains and an unrealistically clean ending, but it's the little lines and little moments along the way that more than make up for the overall flimsiness. This is a film I will watch whenever it is rerun and one I will love forever.
