Has lots of pop energy and an admirable poker-face when it comes to its Douglas Sirk-ian storyline. And even though it's essentially a Frankenstein's monster stitched together from a zillion other movies, you really haven't seen anything like it.

Captivating. A Thai western with a fairytale plot and dreamscape colour pallete. Highly recommended.

The DVD sleeve says "MAD AS A BAG OF SPIDERS". Indeed! Part western, part action movie, part folk tale, part love story. Technicolor craziness and ultra-violence ensues... Truly original.

An entertaining film with some visually stimulating (and very bright) scenery. I found it humorous for the wrong reasons at times, though. It has one of the coolest gun-related deaths I've ever seen.

In "Tears of the Black Tiger," Dom(Chartchai Ngamsan) promises to meet Rumposey(Stella Malucchi), so they can elope, but he cannot make it due to his job as a crack shot where he and his partner, Mahesuan(Supakorn Kitsuwon), kill a snitch at the same time for their boss, the outlaw Fai(Sombat Metanee). Distraught, she submits to being engaged to Kumjorn(Arawat Ruangvuth), a police captain who may solve everybody's problems when he volunteers to lead an assault on Fai's camp. "Tears of the Black Tiger" is a combination of a Sam Peckinpah western and Douglas Sirk melodrama that is decent enough but not a resounding success either. Thankfully, this is not a parody(the melodrama is 100% pure) but it also plays it too safe with an unoriginal story.(And the oldest trick in the book makes an appearance.) If you are going to make a movie like this, then you have to be as wild as your imagination allows.
