This is not by any means a good movie, but there are a few key moments that crackle, suggesting that first time filmmaker Matt Sobel may come back with something more worthwhile some day.

A simple, slow, interesting and beautifully suspenseful exercise in subtlety.

Jennie Kermode 17 Mar 2016

Like Disney in a minor key, the film's focus is on the true nature of family.

Sure to baffle some, it’s a weird movie that isn’t actively weird, but what’s striking about the picture is Sobel’s point of view and confidence. While the movie is amorphous and porous, it’s clear this is exactly what the filmmaker is going for, and that’s certainly bold for a first timer.

It's frustrating, because it has the tools and the ideas for a great film, but it's completely undermined by nearly every decision made by the characters. The final scene almost seems from another film entirely, made even more glaring by the poorly chosen end song.
