Personally I found this film to be rather pretentious and too much like a travelogue for its own good, but then I'm not a huge fan of romance pictures. So why the high score? Well, when taking into consideration how well directed and acted this is, added to the fact that lovers of the romance genre will have little to moan about, 'Summertime' is obviously a bit of a corker. Just don't expect me to watch it again any time soon.

this is a wonderful movie! i love movies that take place in venice-no matter when they are made, i can recognize every turn and nook and of that city (from going there many times). katherine hepburn-wonderful and chic as hell.

A beautifully filmed story. Katherine Hepburn is amazing to watch in this movie.

A very light-hearted and well acted film, if slightly tedious.

For a David Lean film, it's very small and quiet, but elegant nevertheless. It is also his warmest picture ever.
