Another masterpiece! It's hard to believe that this movie was made on 1928! Hilarious and the special effects (if there's any!) are astonishing!

It's hard to go wrong with Buster Keaton. I wouldn't rank this one among his very best (Cameraman, Sherlock, General), but it's pretty good. The first two-thirds are amusing, but it's only the stormy climax that truly impresses. I wasn't really in the mood for a silent comedy and I was kind of bored at first, but the dynamite ending definitely perked me up.

Another classic Buster Keaton film which sees him as the son of a steamboat captain named Steamboat Bill Canfield. Willie (Keaton) goes down to visit his father after going to school up in Boston. Willie discovers that Mary, the girl that he is in love with, is also down from Boston to visit her father. Both fathers do not like each other due to the fact that Mary's father runs a competing steamboat that is more modernized and upscale. Willie and Mary desperately try to get together even though their fathers disapprove. The sight gags are brilliant in this film culminating in the climactic storm and rescue sequence. This film once again shows why Buster Keaton is a true comic genius and one of the comedic stars of the silent era.

Another great movie from Keaton. This one has some really exciting and funny sight gags. Keaton fans can't miss out on this movie.

Steamboat Bill, Jr. continues to showcase the talents of Buster Keaton which clearly influenced many of today's comedians. Both as an actor and an uncredited director, Keaton knows exactly how to keep humour flowing in a 60 minutes silent movie. His actions and facial expressions are spot on that you can't help but fall in love with him. The chemistry and interaction between him and Ernest Torrence as his father is spot on. Even the dialogue when it is presented is witty and humorous. Other than the comedy side of the film, if there is anything that should be praised it would be the stunt work. With Keaton as his own stunt double you get a seamless flow of stunts without cutting. Some of them are amazing to see especially as they originated in the 1920's. The famous scene that is often shown with the house falling and Keaton going through the window was literally a life or death situation. Steamboat Bill, Jr. is an enjoyable hour and Buster Keaton and his comedic talents come across funnier than a lot of comedy films these days.
