It was better than I had imagined. I heard a lot of people say this was there least favorite of Hitchcock's but I thought it was made wonderfully. I didn't think Marlene's performance was all that special but Jane Wyman had most definitely had my interests, as well as the leading men.

Quite a standard movie even with the Hitchcock touch, most notable for cheating the audience, which is actually quite a nice gimmick.

A drama student at the Royal Academy is approached by an old friend, whom she loves, that pleads her to help him out of the accusations of a murder he did not commit. Great cast and good performances. But this is much less inspired than one would expect from a Hitchcock film, and most disappointingly, the lack of proper suspense almost reveals a lack of interest by the director who allows a few plot holes and implausibilities to plague the screenplay.

Oh, so delightful! Jane Wyman is affable and funny (the scene in which she attempts to change herself into a dowdy maid is so funny) and Marlene Dietrich is delicious as the bitchy prima donna. The "false flashback" is years ahead of it's time, and there are brilliant Hitchcock tinges of comedy. A very underrated Hitchcock film - it may not be the most suspenseful, but it never overstays it's welcome, and the ensemble cast is extremely likeable. One of my fave Hitchcocks.

This is really underrated film in my opinion. I didnt feel cheated by the (PLOT SPOILER) false flashback like other seem to. Its not the greatest plot, but there are enough great scenes and humour to make up for it.
