Special Forces (2011)

Afghanistan. War correspondent Elsa Casanova is taken hostage by the Taliban. Faced with her imminent execution, a Special Forces unit is dispatched to free her. In some of the world's most breathtaking yet hostile landscapes, a relentless pursuit begins between her kidnappers who have no intention of letting their prey escape them and a group of soldiers who risk their lives in pursuit of their single aim – to bring her home alive. This strong, independent woman and these men of duty are thrown together and forced to confront situations of great danger that inextricably bind them – emotionally, violently and intimately.

Very realistic. Brilliant story and action.

A fantasy movie. French force that does not surrender. This movie is more a piece of propaganda to the French army. The story is quite farcical where 5 French soldiers rescue the damsel and fought with hundred of taliban in many occasions and a very non-happy end (as any good French movie). It will be a great movie if is not so unreal and propagandistic

While the end is not what I had hoped, the acting was incredible and the photography was perfect. I do wish the story had kept going, kind of the debriefing of the movie would have been nice. More than an hour of stressful suspense is not well offset by the 30 seconds of relief at the end.

Excellently made action and drama movie. Not your typical Rambo-style flick. Good combat scenes along with human drama. I don't quite understand why many U.S. critics so cynically trashed it. I liked it very much and give it 5 stars.

It seems the reviews are negative, but I very much enjoyed the film, especially the action. The panoramic scenes are breathtaking as the films takes the viewer on a journey into Pakistan and Afghanistan.
