Alright, it's a bit slow for today's standards. But the black/white topic is handled genuinely (see what black actors signed up for it, they are beyond a doubt) and if you just don't take the actual story (a white guy popping pills to turn black) too seriously, it's an enjoyable picture. I've seen it many times and still like it. :)

If it weren't for the hilarious basketball montage, this would get no stars.

this movie is a classic 80s treat. C. Thomas Howell is amazing and the storyling is classic 80s. Would this film get made today? Hells no and that's why its perfect. where else can you see a white guy turn black for a scholarship and find true love. LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!

It's just so silly that you can't take it seriously enough to dislike it.
