[font=Book Antiqua][color=#0000ff] Smartest, funniest, and well thought movie ive seen that was perfect. The conflict and plot is great and the scenes that were funnt was funny. My favorite character is the lead character (forgot her name). shes just a girl who knows wat she wants but cant get it cause shes pretty much a nomad. I enjoyed and would love to see it again.[/color][/font]

A great first film for Tamara Jenkins! I had seen this film a year or two after it was released and had quickly forgotten how great it was. Tamara Jenkins loves these characters and it shows throughout the picture. Alan Arkin and Marisa Tomei are phenomenal! Also, what ever happened to Natasha Lyonne? She was great in this as the lead. It was as if she did this, AMERICAN PIE and its first sequel, then just disappeared.

It seems Alan Arkin is the indie coming of age story go to dad, granddad, whatever. Tamara Jenkins is one hell of a screenwriter. She made a movie, the kind we're familiar with in our experiences with movies but she makes it delicious and joyful and new. Even though on a Sundance budget the movie can barely leave the tacky apartments, or much less visit a Beverly Hills school, it's the dialogue and great bits of character charm that convince you of the strange environment of low-rent Beverly Hills citizens. It's weird to say but it's worth watching for the scenes with girls and their dildos; Jenkins turns these sequences into poetry.
