Hard-drinking novelist Zach Hutton spirals out of control after his wife and mistress both leave him. Alone and crippled by a bad case of writer's block, Zach slips in and out of casual relationships and one-night stands, while his drinking becomes more and more severe. With the help of a bartender and his therapist, Zach confronts his demons — women and alcohol.

Worth watching just to see the guys running around in the dark while wearing glow in the dark condoms

Finally got around to seeing this all the way through. I remember the glow in the dark condoms scenes which has to be seen to be believed. It's actually very good and John Ritter actually does a good job at acting as he plays a boozing and philandering washed up writer. I was expecting a sex comedy but this is an intelligent movie that looks at relationships as Ritter's character must come to deal with what he is the way he is. It's sad that Blake Edwards' last movie was the Son of the Pink Panther. He actually made some great movies but had to slum the Pink Panther movies to make money.

Mr. Ritter is an engagingly comic actor, but the women in his life are so uncharacterized, in the writing, casting and the playing, that the comedy fizzles. All that's left is a movie about a seriously alcoholic writer making a mess of things.
