Awesome character studies. Riz Ahmed is sooo good in this film and is supported by some amazing performances. The film is clever and engaging and quite basic too. This is film is not big on high budget production but for some reason seems very polished when compared to a film like Lock Stock. This is all due to the amzing acting values. The pot is engaging and is clever in its use of Chris as an outsider looking in to a world he left. This really gives the audience a pair of eyes into the character of Shifty from a direct view. You can tell Shifty is an inteligent guy but seems clouded by his greed for success in a drug world. A great film with a extreme focus on the characters compared to the world they live in.

Cracker; 'bout time I saw a decent film. Thought it could well be shite as the "film critics" gave it upwards of 95% and as we all know "film critics" are even more stupid than the general public!!! Good story, good acting, no stereotyping and quite down to earth - I well liked it.

A look into the world of drug dealing takes an interesting route through the life of the title character, Shifty. A great storyline with some very powerful moments and leaves the viewer wanting more. Both leads are excellent as the two friends with Flemyng being a great villain to the story. If you want simple, gritty storytelling, then look no further.

"Shifty" begins like "The Streets - the Musical" with added male awkwardness. Happily, halfway through things start to get a lot more gripping. The film does a good job of saying "drugs are bad" without demonising the people that deal or use them. All in all a decent film but not the revolution in British cinema that the hypemachine made it out to be. A final note - why do the production team act like Jason Flemyng is a great star? I'd never heard of him before this.

Dark, gritty etc etc...... London etc etc...... it's OK if you like those sort of 'drugs / lads / EAST London' genre movies. It doesn't quite cut it for me.
