Sherpa (2015)

In 2013, the world's media reported on a shocking mountain-high brawl as European climbers fled a mob of angry Sherpas. Instead, they captured Everest's greatest tragedy, when a huge block of ice crashed down onto the climbing route...

Sherpa has little desire in hammering any particular message home, beyond offering a window into a seldom-seen culture.

An awe-inspiring documentary about the real heroes of Everest, the Sherpas - not the spoiled rich guys who just want to cross something off their bucket list.

An excellent documentary. I learned so much about the meaning of Everest for the Sherpas and the culture and fascination surrounding it and its history. The story is very moving and, at times, provocative. The way that the movie has been constructed from many hours of footage collected at the time is very impressive. If you are interested in Everest -- it's culture and history and, in particular, what this means for the Sherpas, it is worth a trip to see at the cinema.

Documentary is a fascinating genre: it can lead filmmakers to unexpected places and smartly opportunistic filmmakers (in the best sense), will take advantage of such opportunities. This is such a case. This is such a film

The single most effective element to Sherpa is Renan Ozturk's cinematography.
