Promises (2001)

Documentarians Justine Shapiro and B.Z. Goldberg traveled to Israel to interview Palestinian and Israeli kids ages 11 to 13, assembling their views on living in a society afflicted with violence, separatism and religious and political extremism. This 2002 Oscar nominee for Best Feature Documentary culminates in an astonishing day in which two Israeli children meet Palestinian youngsters at a refugee camp.

Despite its lively tone and brisk editing, the project's sad epilogue -- shot two years later -- suggests that Abraham and Mohammed will be duking it out on the world's dime for some time to come.

It would be interesting to see a follow-up documentary now, 8 years later.

Such a great documentary about Israeli and Palestinian children getting to know each other, and talking to each other about their opinions on the violence in Israel.

This movie is not just a movie, but still a great movie.

One of my favourites. It really brings a human aspect to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It helps one to understand that the conflict, although difficult, is not because the sides are full of hateful, violent people. Instead, you see that they are like anyone else--- human--- full of joy, pain, anger, etc. It's a very emotional film.
