I get it. However through all the sadness, horror, and compassionate moments, I stuck with it and waited with baited breath to see mother and child reunited. It's the least I should get, but did not happen. Way to go, Paul Bettany.

Jennifer Connelly is so good. So good. It's really the performances that make this movie and her performance is outstanding. I think even though she is an Oscar winning actress, she's actually pretty underrated.

I can't believe the bad critic reviews as most of them seem to center around the notion the Mr. Bettany piled on too much bad to the characters situation for one movie. I'm sorry but Mr. Bettany works closely with New York shelters and charity groups so I believe he likely know what is more realistic for real homeless people than a well-off, tea-sipping critic.

As it meanders from over-familiar set-pieces and cliches — Tahir drums on empty paint buckets for money, predators face them at every turn, a callous system trips them up, and when they break into that brownstone, naturally they play dress-up — Shelter loses its way.
