pretty great all the way through, but in case you didn't happen to skim through any other reviews, the chase scene at the end is one of the best and most epic in cinematic history. Buster's gags are always inventive, but the span and scope of that scene is marvelous. The rest of the movie is great light-hearted comedy, but man... that last 15 minutes is just amazing.

Except for a few mildly racist bits, this is pretty amusing. Mostly good gags, some daring stunts, and of course hapless, lovable Keaton at the center of it. Not terribly ground-breaking or complex, but quite entertaining. I even laughed out loud (something that rarely happens when watching a comedy by yourself) at the window display of broken clocks.

finally - my first keaton film i have seen; he is nothing like chaplin, not a "bad" thing - just different. he is more "animated," different of chaplin's animation. i can see a lot of chuck jone's inspiration (if any) by keaton's style (i.e. music, animation, etc). the storyline of keaton may have needed a bit tweaking (perhaps, assistance of chaplin - i hope they did a performance together, if not perhaps another life). i love silent films - perhaps, i may continue this legacy . . .

A minor effort from Keaton (apparently his least favourite of his own films), which still amounts to a pretty wonderful film. Keaton finds out that he will inherit $7 million if he marries by 7 PM the same day. Due to a misunderstanding, the girl he really loves rejects him, sending him on a quest to find a bride. This is the rare Keaton film that's based on a pre-existing property (a stage play), so the writing is not as sharp as it could be. The long sequence where Keaton is rejected by a series of women gets to be dull and repetitive. But a final chase sequence where Keaton races to the house of his true love pursued by hundreds of women in bridal gowns livens it up again and features the wild, physical comedy one expects from him. The terrible Chris O'Donnell film "The Bachelor" is a remake.
