Seize the Day (1986)

Tommy Wilhelm is a salesman. An honest, hard-working guy who has lost his job, his girlfriend, and left part of his sanity behind as he heads to New York to pick up the pieces of his life. He's always been able to sell, but caught in a downward spiral, he must, in addition, face the father who never really understood him, while trying to balance his newly precarious existence.

I thought it was too hectic, too stressful and arduous to watch... Stiller was the best of the worse here.

In the grand scheme of filmography, very few films really get you to connect wholeheartedly with a character enough to feel their feelings. Whether it be the nerve racking circumstances that the script places Tommy Wilhelm or the awesome emotion shown by Robin Williams, Seize the Day is one of those few films. "Don't marry suffering the way some people do. They marry suffering, they eat with suffering, they sleep with suffering. And they find some joy in their lives; they think their committing adultery. Forget your father. For him love is a recessive gene." - Tampkin (Jerry Stiller).

This film is for anyone who thinks Robin Williams can't provide a remarkable performance without his quick-wit. In this extremely gut-wrenching realistic movie, Williams portrays a blue-collar prisoner of life trapped within all of it's surroundings. If you have to nerve to taste reality, I challenge you to see this movie!

It was sad seeing one of everybody's favorite funny man actors play a depressed, down-on-his-luck, too good a guy to lash out against those he needed to, poorly parented young man struggle with life, especially considering how much it mirrored his secretly depressed real life (Robin Williams). As a movie, it wasn't particularly noteworthy. You just watch a man get duped by everyone and lose it at the end.
