Director Robert Mulligan's feature film debut is a harrowing and intense biopic of Boston Red Sox baseball star Jim Piersall, superbly portrayed by Anthony Perkins.

Ever see Anthony Perkins as something other than Norman Bates? I really liked this film, you can sense his emotions being on the edge all the time. You really wish he had more spine.

An interesting story that's mostly executed quite well. Perkins and Malden stand out but so do this movie's flaws on occasion.
