Scarlet Street (1945)

Cashier and part-time starving artist Christopher Cross is absolutely smitten with the beautiful Kitty March. Kitty plays along, but she's really only interested in Johnny, a two-bit crook. When Kitty and Johnny find out that art dealers are interested in Chris's work, they con him into letting Kitty take credit for the paintings. Cross allows it because he is in love with Kitty, but his love will only let her get away with so much.

I don't know that I've ever seen anything so crushingly tragic. I mean... damn.

I am surprised not more people have talked about this film... Fritz Lang's greatest American achievement, and a really brilliant example of film noir. Check it out, ya'll...

Directed by Fritz Lang and was based on the 1930's French film, La Chienne and exellent performances by the three leads Edward G Robinson, Joan Bennett and Dan Dureya. It has similarities with The Woman in the Window with the same three stars. Lang and his crew have put together a stunning looking film with great lighting and camera work (Milton Krasner is the Director of Photography) and a script filled with great dialog and quotable noir lines.

A really great film noir. It's just the epitome of a relentlessly dark story. Edward G. Robinson is so perfect, it's impossible to not feel empathy for his character, no matter what he does. Joan Bennett is just amazing as her ruthless, cold-hearted femme fatale. I just love how ironic the end of it is and how bleak it gets as the story progress.

Se podrìa decir que es una obra maestra, Fritz Lang director aleman dirige a Edward G. Robinson en el papel de su vida. Pelicula noir, que muestra la decadencia humana por culpa de una femme fatale.Imprescindible!
