An incredibly hollow and rather bland war story that only touches upon moments of crisis that other films such as The Hurt Locker captured, while this feels as if it's just trying to replicate those effects with disappointing and underwhelming effects. Performances are ok but why Cavill is in this in not sure, his character serves no purpose and he simply appears then disappears throughout. Every character is incredibly underdeveloped and due to that you have zero engagement with the group and the resulting plot with absolutely no emotion at all.

Sandcastle seems very run of the mill at first but the lead performances are well done, and the film doesn't hang much of the cliches it uses. When we see our green recruit turn into a more hardened soldier, it isn't shoved down our throats with lingering close ups.

Excellent movie. Script written by the soldier that LIVED the events depicted in the film. I don't know why critics trashed the film. It is a riveting and emotional journey.
