Rosewater (2014)

In 2009, Iranian Canadian journalist Maziar Bahari was covering Iran's volatile elections for Newsweek. One of the few reporters living in the country with access to US media, he made an appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, in a taped interview with comedian Jason Jones. The interview was intended as satire, but if the Tehran authorities got the joke they didn't like it - and it would quickly came back to haunt Bahari when he was rousted from his family home and thrown into prison.

Gripping, enlightening, moving. Maziar Bahari is a true inspiration. Now to read his book "Then They Came for Me" !

Amazing statement at the right time for both cultures, East and West.

Scarier than any horror movie, because this is a story that happens all around the world by governments scared of their own people. Bring on the masked, machete armed creatures...

Excellent film on the Story of Maziar Bahari, A Journalist arrested by the Iranian Gov't And falsely accused of Spying. This film illustrates the dangers that many Journalists face all over the world when reporting the truth of abuses of Bad gov't. this is Jon Stewart's first and only Directorial Debut.

Rosewater is at its best when it's less a pick-and-choose historical artifact than an examination of what time in undeserved solitude does to the human mind.
