Rodan (1956)

Mining engineer Shigeru investigates the disappearance and death of his fellow coworkers when prehistoric nymphs are discovered emerging from the mines. After an attack on the local village, Shigeru heads deeper into the mines only to make a more horrifying discovery in the form a prehistoric flying creature. Soon a second monster appears as the two converge in Fukuoka.

After Godzilla, this is the other Japanese giant monster worth seeing.

Another creature feature from Toho Studios, the studio Godzilla brings giant flying reptiles referred to by scientists as rodan causing destruction and death in a Japanese city. Run for your lives! This film features the dubbed voice of George Takei, who played Hikaru Sulu on "Star Trek" and the movies.

I love daikaiju flicks, and the team behind this movie is the team that made GOJIRA, so naturally, it should be awesome. But it's not. It has some cool things in it (the air battles were awesome), and Rodan was definitely different as a monster, but the movie suffers from pacing issues, as well as a climax that is dragged out and dull.
