Rodan (1956)

Mining engineer Shigeru investigates the disappearance and death of his fellow coworkers when prehistoric nymphs are discovered emerging from the mines. After an attack on the local village, Shigeru heads deeper into the mines only to make a more horrifying discovery in the form a prehistoric flying creature. Soon a second monster appears as the two converge in Fukuoka.

Following Godzilla's success we get another monster created from nuclear radiation running a mock. Like Godzilla it exploits fear of the nuclear age but its story is a lot more tedious and the human characters much less interesting not to mention the monster far less iconic. Still it has its charms as far as 50s monster movies go

Its message is not as powerful as in "Godzilla," but those who enjoyed that movie are likely to fall in love with "Rodan."

i so luv this film. in fact rodan's original name is radon. it had a great cast and storyline. this had to be one of kenji sahara's great performance and his first ever leading role. i even like the love story with him and yumi shirakawa. their a perfect match. this movie had lots of action, adventure and full of surprises. for those who have not seen the jap version its best u do cuz its better than the dub.

One of the best of ther Japanese Horror Monsters. Yes I said the best.
