Hands down my favorite movie of all time. The movie handles the complexities of the Russian Revolution in a way that embraces both the political and personal. You'll never see a better film about two people trying to change the world.

A well crafted film about John Reed and the Bolshevik Revolution and its impact on the US and the world. Warren Beatty's finset piece of work with a great supporting cast, not to mention the people who appear that actually knew John Reed.

Brilliant story/script/everything about the wave of revolution sweeping the world in 1917 an d it's subsequent ebb. Masterfully dramatizes the beginnings of the revolutionary socialist movement in the United States and the initial successes of the Russian Revolution (hinting at its unravelling and degenration). Basically, this movie is at the peak of the 'New Hollywood' stuff in terms of quality and its about some of my heroes, add it doesn't shy away from some fairly esoteric debates going on within the socialist movement, yet it doesn't seem like a propaganda piece to me.
