The Damned United (2009)

Taking over Leeds United, Brian Clough's abrasive approach and his clear dislike of the players' dirty style of play make it certain there is going to be friction. Glimpses of his earlier career help explain both his hostility to previous manager Don Revie and how much he is missing right-hand man Peter Taylor.

One of those football movies that you just can't miss. Fantastic. From the superb acting of Michael Sheen, to the chosen storyline which is developed masterfully by Hooper. This is a football film not only for fans of this sport, but for those who like to see a good movie, it's a nice way to s one of the most intriguing characters of english (and european) football history...

It romps along with an effortless bounce and charm. How much will stay with you, though, is another matter.

Performances are fabulous; Michael Sheen almost tops his previous outings as Blair and Frost with this and Spall, Meaney and Broadbent are just so solid.

One of the greatest Sports movies of all time. One that deals with the failure of a legend rather than the pluckiness of an underdog.
