Good foreign romance film about belonging...

This seemed like a made for TV movie. It was interesting from a historical perspective but was otherwise kind of flat.

I love that actors from memoirs of a geisha are in it. It makes it more recognizable for me. Definately happy it was part of the Sundance Film Festival.

Kayo Hatta's biography of Japanese American communities on Hawaiian plantations. Very moving. Kayo Hatta had so much potential, I wish she were still alive today to make great movies that contribute to Asian American cinema.

This is one of those movies that you expect to be very bad, you sit and watch... and keep watching and then it's over. You're drawn into the storyline somehow. The characters are very powerful and there's depth to them. The imagery is very beautiful and overall keeps you interested!
