Great period movie set in the 1930's during depression years in Australia. The movie crew did a great job to re-create the atmosphere and settings of the time. A heart warming story of triumph against the odds. I am biased though as I love horse racing. Compare this with seabiscuit (a movie made with 40 times the budget of phar lap) and phar lap wins by the length of the straight EVERY time!!

I watch this movie about once a year, whenever I need a real good cry and root for the underdog.

I loved it but the begining is so sad I suppose they decided ending the movie with a death would be a real bummer for every1 so they ended itt in a sort of positive note

Haven't seen it since I was a kid and still remember crying my eyes out. I hate horse racing and still love the shit out of this film.
