I do own this on DVD but courtesty of Fox Classics I was able to relive it last week without getting off the couch. Still the greatest Australian movie of all time. And far superior to Seabiscuit.

One of, if not the, best horse movies ever made. Sorry kids, no cowboys in this one."

The greatest Horse that ever lived. Never lost a race. If you can find this movie then watch it. A real heart breaker

The exultant and tragic story of iconic Australian racehorse Phar Lap. A magnificent vernacular script augmented by superb cinematography, music and foley. Tom Burlinson's performance was excellent, and Martin Vaughan was perfectly cast as the horse's trainer, Harry Telford.

The film is buoyed by good performances, strong production values and Williamson's writing, which finds a genuine but bittersweet way to commemorate one of Australian sport's best performing athletes.
