There are a few spooky moments in Personal Shopper but the spookiest thread is how we attempt to manipulate communication to get our desired result.

Assayas' camerawork and use of technology is his downfall. Awkward mid-scene fade-outs feel clumsy and distracted, while some truly embarrassing CGI breaks the flow of the psychological drama.

I found Personal Shopper a mesmerizing experience. This film, written and directed by Olivier Assayas, is part ghost story, part travelogue, part fashion show, and part mystery/thriller, and the various elements somehow blend into one cohesive whole.
